Michael Denton Associates was established in Halifax in 1972 and became a limited company in 2008. Between the principal directors and associates we have 120 years experience in Building Surveying and Architectural Design working with domestic, commercial and industrial sector clients.
The Directors
Peter Denton MRICS obtained a Higher National Diploma (Structures) in 1965 following a three year sandwich course at Sheffield College of Technology with industrial training periods on site with John Laing Construction. He worked for 13 years in management of building contracts, both in this country and overseas with John Laing Construction, Bovis Construction and Taylor Woodrow International. He was involved with Taylor Woodrow with roadworks and harbour works in the Middle East.
In 1978 he joined Michael Denton Associates as a partner initially responsible for Project Management, Quantity Surveying and cost estimating for industrial, commercial and residential properties. He subsequently obtained Chartered status as a Building Surveyor with RICS and has developed the Building Surveying of the business based on a wide range of experience of the buildings in Yorkshire and the North including some specialist knowledge of Listed historic buildings.
Russell Holmes BSc (Hons) MRICS joined Michael Denton Associates in 1988 as an Architectural Technician. He gained a Higher National Certificate in Building Studies at Leeds College of Building and graduated from De Monfort University, Leicester with a BSc Honours degree in Building Surveying and went on to obtain Chartered status as a Building Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1997.
Russell has developed the Architectural Design side of the practice with highly commended schemes including the multi award winning refurbishment of Somerset House, Halifax.
Our Services
At Michael Denton Associates Ltd we have developed two departments, Building Surveying and Architectural Services. The Building Surveying Department undertakes Structural Surveys, Schedules of Dilapidations/Condition, Party Wall Awards, Expert Witness, Boundary Disputes etc. The Architectural Services department undertakes all Architectural Design Projects such as extensions, conversions, planning and building control matters as well as full project management services of domestic, commercial and industrial projects.
